Garage Door Rollers: Signs They Need Repair

Rollers guide the door through its travel
Garage door rollers move through the tracks as the door opens and closes. When a roller is worn, damaged, or no longer in the track, the door may sound different, bind, travel unevenly, or stop before completing a normal cycle.
Do not try to reset a roller under load
A roller problem can involve the track, cable, door position, and other moving parts. Avoid trying to push a roller back into place or forcing the opener. Keep the opening clear if the door is uneven or partly open.
Describe the symptom instead of the diagnosis
Mention whether you hear rubbing, scraping, or popping sounds; whether the door is crooked; and whether a roller is visibly outside the track. The repair conversation should account for the entire moving system, not just one visible part.
